ClassDojo, an app for teachers and parents, raises $35 million

As a result, the total raised by ClassDojo is $65 million. The long-term goal with this app is to aid every child worldwide to get an education that they love. This app is building the globe’s first consumer brand in the field of education.

The funding announcement came after the news in the fourth quarter that ClassDojo began to introduce a new product for families, and that is called Beyond School. This is an optional subscription that gives parents access to learning experiences that are taking place for their children beyond the classroom.

The revenue that is derived from Beyond School will continue to help improve ClassDojo, which is free of charge for teachers, students and their families all over the world.

Ever since it was developed in 2011, ClassDojo has grown and expanded substantially. One is six families in America (with a child in an elementary school) uses the app on a daily basis. This growth has been organic via word-of-mouth from existing users. A team of 40 professionals operates ClassDojo. It is based in San Francisco, California.

Liam Don, the co-founder, and chief technology officer of ClassDojo, remarked in a press statement that they have been a communication app for classroom and they are growing far beyond that. Their intention is to build the “most-loved consumer brand in education” worldwide, and rightfully so. It serves the people that are involved in education such as teachers, school staff, administrators, as well as students, their parents, and families. Sam Chaudhary, the CEO, and co-founder of ClassDojo, underscored that the focus of ClassDojo is to serve communities, as well as to give children an education that they love.

Particularly impressive about ClassDojo is that it is used in approximately 95 percent of schools (grades Pre-K to eighth grade) in the United States; moreover, it is used in 180 countries worldwide. In the following countries, more than one-quarter of the elementary school teachers use ClassDojo: Australia, Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, and that number keeps growing each year.

As a former New York City public school teacher, this journalist has had plenty of experience utilizing ClassDojo with his upper elementary students, and he has found it to be a great behavior modification device, where students and their families can track progress digitally. This app truly helps stimulate student interest, boost student achievement, and it encourages children to enhance their participation in the classroom setting, in an effort to achieve positive “digital” rewards from their teachers (which are compiled by student progress and data on ClassDojo).

In addition, the majority of parents that use it feel that it was an efficient way to make them free more connected with their children, and they can enjoy it with the family as a whole. ClassDojo helps foster family engagement, relationships and support.
