Chinese store hires tailor to adjust pockets for iPhone 6 Plus

According to Tech in Asia, China Unicom in Shanghai has hired an in-store tailor to adjust customers’ pants pockets to fit the iPhone 6 Plus. The record-shattering phone just debuted in China last week.

The story comes from a picture going viral on Weibo, of a tailor working on pants as a woman stands by the booth with two microphones.

The idea apparently isn’t even original to this store — a company called KPN in Netherlands had an in-store tailor when the iPhone 6 began selling in Amsterdam.

It looks like the size of the iPhone 6 Plus was what finally got fashion designers considering larger pocket sizes, Tech Times reports.

Popular brands like Levi’s and J. Crew are already looking into redesigning its merchandise, while an American Eagle spokesperson said that its female pockets may need to be redesigned.

It is in fact female clothing that is the trickiest for fashion designers, as Tech Times says there is often less fabric to work with. That isn’t stopping companies like Lee’s Jeans, who is already looking into designing larger pockets that will flatter female customers.
