Jason Jaramillo, the CEO at StatHero, chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos. StatHero is the next-level daily sports fantasy platform, and Jaramillo is an immersed DFS and Sportsbook expert. He opened up about being a CEO in the digital age.

StatHero

On the uniqueness of StatHero, he said, “Our Players Win, and win often.StatHero was created because traditional DFS is dying. It takes too much time, you hardly ever win and that’s just not worth it, it’s not fun. The average fan just has to spend too much time to be competitive.  Spending hours of research with little chance to win runs stale quickly.  StatHero simply shows you lineups you can face ahead of time.  No tricks.  You choose a lineup to take on and you just have to beat it. That’s it.”

“Another DFS problem StatHero solves is the competition you are facing.  85 percent of fantasy sports players lose.  Why?  Because you are playing experts and thousands of other players for 1 prize. It’s basically the fantasy lottery. Not so with StatHero, you will always know who and what lineup you are facing at all times,” he said.

“No other fantasy sports company does that. My goal was to take the mystery away and give the player the advantage. Our players are winning at an industry leading 50 to 70 percent clip depending on sport.”

“Finally, let’s talk about the fun of daily fantasy.  Playing anything is only fun when you have a realistic shot at winning.  We want to make sure every time a player faces us, they are in complete control. It is completely on them.  No tricks.  No algorithms.  Just you Vs lil old StatHero,” he added.

“We feel we’re Daily Fantasy Sports the way it was meant to be, one-on-one,” he said. “Everything we do is for the player and this hybrid of daily fantasy and sports betting as exploded onto the scene. We’re growing 10x year over year and our players are spending 3x more than other platforms all because they are winning like no other platform.”

The digital age

On being a CEO in the digital age, he said, “It is tiring but inspiring. Technology today is moving so fast, customer preferences and behaviors are changing before our eyes, not to mention the added uncertainty of a pandemic it’s a lot to manage but there are a lot of companies taking to the challenge and the leaps we’ve taken in just a couple years has been incredible.”

“StatHero has had to adapt to quite a bit with sports being canceled and then flooding back we lean heavily on our digital team to be as agile as possible. But the one thing that’s always been a guide for us is our focus on putting the player first. Whether it’s a new gameplay like our Daily Fantasy Parlays coming out, or a new league like our College Football product or just simply reaching out to players to make a personal connection our team knows it’s all about the players,” he said.

Regarding his daily motivations, he said, “I want to make sure we are putting out the best DFS platform, period. Whether it’s the imagery we use, the lineups we post or the ease of our gameplay I want to make Fantasy Sports accessible to all skill levels. I want to all fans to feel the thrill of a team they built taking down an opponent.”

“That’s why our gameplay isn’t intimidating, but it’s also why we have so many options so our highly skilled players feel like they we’re the best platform to exploit their expertise. It’s something that appeals to all fans and I don’t let anything get released until it’s just right. We are never going to rush anything out, we test, we adjust and we always keep a close connection with our players,” he said.

On his future plans, he said, “We continue to innovate and expand. We just added Alabama and Arizona to our list of states of 34 total states we’re available in with 4 more on the way. We also continue to add leagues like NCAA Football and we are looking at UFC and Premier League soccer. But perhaps the most innovative thing set to launch is our Daily Fantasy Parlays. It’s another first of it’s kind offering that multiplies the players odds if they can build a lineup that beats multiple of StatHero lineups.”

He opened up about his partner with Baron Davis. “We connected with Baron and instantly appreciated the innovation and connection he’s bringing to sports, culture and experiences. We’ll be working with him on some fun content for his media as well as sponsoring his XvX Influencer tour bringing music, sports, and unique experiences to Los Angeles in early November. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Baron and his team,” he said.

Regarding his definition of success, he said, “For me, success is the culmination of tiny wins. All the small improvements you’ve made to this world that allows others to gain greater joy from the things they love. It’s knowing that through your perseverance over the many setbacks you’ve endured that you’ve been able to make someone’s life fractionally better. Whether that’s through an app that heightens your enjoyment of sports while putting a little money in your pocket or through my true passion of helping abandoned dogs find loving homes. As StatHero’s success builds what that really means to me is that I’ll have a larger platform to help more animals.”

He concluded about StatHero, he said, “It’s time to bet on yourselves. We are the only DFS platform that is built around giving players the advantage and it’s exemplified in our crazy high player winning percentages. Try us out, we really are fantasy sports the way it was meant to be.”
