Boat Show, Car Show, eShow: World’s First Consumer Internet Expo to Debut at Madison Square Garden This Fall

NEW YORK, — Bringing web companies face-to-face with their customers on a
grand scale, eShow , the first-ever Internet expo aimed solely at consumers,
will make its debut at New York’s Madison Square Garden on September
9th-10th 2000, organizers announced today.

Presented by The New York Times and Yahoo! Internet Life, the leading
consumer Internet magazine from Ziff Davis Media, eShow will feature
exhibits by more than 150 leading Web companies, along with a wide selection
of how-to-seminars led by Internet experts and a dynamic roster of live
events. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the two-day event.

“Many consumers feel overwhelmed by what seems like an infinite number of
Web sites and information about them,” said Bob Zuckerman, president of
eShow. “For companies trying to break through the dot.com clutter, eShow
represents an extraordinary opportunity to meet their customers
face-to-face. It’s a totally new and unique way for companies to
distinguish their products and services firsthand from their competitors.”

Citing a recent Jupiter Communications study that found that 90% of online
consumers prefer human interaction, Zuckerman added that eShow would address
some of the misgivings that many consumers have about the Internet.

“People, especially those who are new to the Internet, want to touch, hear,
feel, and see,” said Zuckerman. “eShow gives companies the rare chance to
directly interact with highly-targeted consumers and, hopefully, win
lifelong customers.” Zuckerman added that he plans to take eShow on the
road to major cities, such as Los Angeles, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Zuckerman, who helped organize the first “New York Music and Internet Expo”
in March 1999, which featured such industry leaders as Michael Robertson of
MP3.com and performer Chuck D, is also a veteran political consultant. He
recently ran the New York City office of Campaign Performance Group, one of
the nation’s leading political direct mail firms.
