BMW 1-series gets a facelift for 2015

On the outside, the updated design features slimmer headlights in the front that give the 1-series a slimmer look. The headlights also come with a LED option, as well. The taillights have also gotten a makeover and been beefed up to give the car a more aggressive appeal. The 1-series has also had its design tweaked to give it a sportier look.

“This striking compact model is characterised by a spirited elegance and a sporty character that is borne out by its athletic design,” said BMW on their website.

The interior of the car has been given extra standard equipment and an increase in the personalization options that are available for it. High-tech options including a radar-based cruise control system and low-speed collision warning systems have been added for the 1-series. Of course, as with any BMW, you can be sure that there are plenty of BMW OEM parts retailers online selling parts for the 1-series. Shopping for parts online can give a buyer more options and better prices at the same time.

The engine has also been refined. Although it is still not the powerhouse, the available turbocharged 1.5 liter, three cylinder engine still makes the 1-series an impressive fuel miser with a consumption rate better than 50 miles per gallon. The optional turbocharged 1.6 liter, four cylinder has respectable acceleration numbers with a top speed of 130 miles per hour, but just misses the fifty mile per gallon figure.

The 120i and 125i also use four cylinders to improve performance. The 120i is a 1.6 liter engine with 177 horsepower that boasts a zero to 60 acceleration time of 7.4 seconds. The 120t is a 2.0 liter engine that hits that mark 1.2 seconds faster. Both of these engines get that extra performance at the cost of gas mileage.

The M135i is the largest, most powerful engine that BMW offers for the 1-series. It is a 3.0 liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that can produce 326 horsepower. It can go from zero to 60 in a respectable 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. The M135i loses out on fuel efficiency, only just reaching 35 miles per gallon.
