If you get an e-mail with a subject line saying I LOVE YOU —- delete it
immediately. It is a worm, possibly a destructive one.
The worm has caused such a panic that it is almost impossible to get through
to the Web sites of major security and antivirus vendors. Is that a bug in
the system?
Tips on containing the “Love Bug” virus:
If you see “ILOVEYOU” in the subject line of your e-mail, delete the
message immediately. Do not open the attachment,
“LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs.”
* Install anti-virus software, if you have not already done so, and check
with manufacturers’ Web sites for any updates they may post to kill the
virus.
* Network administrators should filter and delete incoming mail with
“ILOVEYOU” in the subject line and “LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs” as an
attachment name.
