The Apple Watch will be available only in limited quantities upon launch, and it is still not clear just how long this restriction will be in place. That’s not to say that you’ll only be able to get an Apple Watch at an Apple Store, of course. You can also just have Apple ship the smartwatch to you for free, if you prefer. The Apple Watch will be available for pre-order from April 10. Apple also provides an option to try the watch on at an Apple store from April 10.
According to PCMag, Apple is likely using this pre-order method to deal with inventory issues, and also provide customers with a reasonable idea of what they will be purchasing. The watch isn’t a straight-off-the-shelf kind of product. It comes with many customizable features, including the band and style.
What’s more, for many customers, the watch will be their first experience of wearable tech, and handling the device will probably involve a bit of a learning curve. This probably explains why Apple is trying to introduce customers to a more personalized shopping experience.
Apple Watch pre-orders can be made from 12:01 AM Pacific on April 10 in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and United Kingdom.
Apple’s website also includes guided tour videos which showcase the watch and its many functions. The watch is available in versions that range from $349-$17,000 for a gold version. Users will be able to make full use of the watch only if they have an iPhone.
