Report: Apple wants to launch a TV streaming service this fall

The New York Post writes Apple has already built the platform required to facilitate TV streaming. It is now in discussions with ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox to ensure the service will have content for users to watch.
Apple has figured out a way to get what it wants as quickly as possible. Rather than chasing every affiliate network across the country, it has asked the broadcast networks to do the work instead. The networks will then be able to handle all negotiations with Apple, on behalf of the affiliate feeds and local broadcasters.
Apple is reportedly looking to gain a 30 percent revenue share, as with Apple Music. The subscription fee is apparently yet to be determined but the service could launch later this year, in time to coincide with an all-new Apple TV streaming device. One source told the New York Post that “the platform is ready and it rocks.”
Tim Cook and Eddy Cue, Apple’s top media negotiator, were spotted chatting with the NFL Commissioner at the Sun Valley conference last week. It has been suggested that an NFL offering may be incorporated into the streaming service.
The networks are reportedly “close” to being able to negotiate with Apple for their affiliates. One of the NYP’s sources said that “Apple has a lot of reach and this is a good opportunity” while Fox apparently “has the ability to negotiate with Apple [for affiliates], or it will have it very soon.”
If Apple can get what it wants and launch a TV streaming service this fall then it will be the company’s second major product launch of the year, following Apple Music. Disney or CBS will reportedly be the first to sign with Apple, once the matter of compensation and “a host of other hurdles” have been cleared.
