Alanis Morissette Makes Performance Debut in China

International superstar Alanis Morissette made her performance debut in
China along with Aqua (honored as International Band of the Year) and Atomic
Kitten at the 2000 CCTV-MTV Music Honors in Beijing.

Twenty-three Asian and international honorees for the 2000 CCTV-MTV Music
Honors were announced last week at the China Central Television (CCTV) Studio 1
in, following the conclusion of the star-studded 2000 CCTV-MTV Music Honors.
Jointly hosted by MTV Networks Asia and CCTV, and sponsored by Siemens and
Sina.com, the 2-1/2 hour ceremony saluted Chinese and international artists who
have made a significant contribution to the global, Asian and Chinese music
industry.

The 2000 CCTV-MTV Music Honors will be progressively aired from 23 June on
CCTV-1 and CCTV-3 to over 500 million households in China, and across Asia
through MTV’s various channels in the region. Portions of the show will
also
air on other MTV channels globally, reaching a total of more than 310
million
households across 136 territories.

Honorees were selected by a panel comprising MTV and CCTV, based on
several criteria such as their contributions to the music industry, overall
popularity and record sales. Two new categories were introduced this year
for
China: Male and Female Artists of the Year, which were voted in by music
fans
from China via Internet, telephone and mail.
