A new standard for instantly webcast videoconferencing

SAN FRANCISCO – Digital Island, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISLD), a leading Global
e-Business Delivery Network, announced today Footprint Interactive, the
first content delivery service that allows companies to Webcast live
videoconferences from any corporate office to any site on the Internet –
without prior scheduling with the service provider.

By integrating streaming video-messaging capabilities from Videoscape.net,
Inc., the Footprint Interactive service enables companies to convert
existing H.320 ISDN videoconferencing systems into Internet broadcasting
studios that can simultaneously stream audio and video, post presentations
and conduct audience polls and focus groups through instantaneous text
messaging.

In addition to encoding the ISDN signal to all major
streaming formats, Digital Island’s Footprint Interactive service distributes
rich content across its global content delivery infrastructure, which can
manage up to 250,000 concurrent streams worldwide.

To use Digital Island’s Footprint Interactive service, companies do not have
to contact the service provider to schedule a Webcast. Instead, subscribers
can simply start up an easy-to-use player that allows them to switch between
live streams, click through slide presentations and send text messages.

“Digital Island’s Footprint Interactive services sets a new standard for how
companies conduct business in the new economy, enabling truly interactive
communication anywhere, any time without any additional costs or capital
investments,” said Tim Wilson, vice president of marketing at Digital
Island.

“We are pleased that a leading e-Business network service provider such as
Digital Island has selected Videoscape.net’s video application services to
provide a new best-in-class portfolio of Internet communications services,”
said Craig Myers, president and CEO of Videoscape.net. “The richness, power
and reliability of live and on-demand Webcasts for applications, such as
distance learning, direct marketing and corporate communications, leapfrogs
conventional, one-dimensional electronic communications.”
