Video: High school kicker boots incredible 67-yard FG

Central Valley’s Austin Rehkow was the hero on Thursday when his high school squad matched up against Shadle Park HS in Spokane, WA. As the last quarter ended, Rehkow had one last chance to tie the game 55-55, all down to a very long 67-yard kick.

In the dying seconds, Rehkow booted the FG to just edge between the uprights, breaking state records with a shocking 67-yarder. His team ended up winning overtime 62-55.

As this report states, the kick “broke a record set more than 80 years ago, in 1929,by Kent’s Kelly Imhoff, who booted a 62-yard field goal that year.”

But it didn’t break the high school yard. Rehkow missed it by one yard – in 1985, Dirk Borgognone of Reno, Nev. kicked a a 68-yard field goal.

Rehkow should be proud he beat the NFL record of 63 yards, held by both Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) and Tom Dempsey (New Orleans Saints).

Rehkow, who kicked 25 field goals in his career, has a partial scholarship offer from Eastern Washington.
