UFC: Ronda Rousey to defend title against Holly Holm on Jan. 2

The announcement that Holm would be facing Rousey for the UFC women’s bantamweight title was made on Friday.

After the news broke out, Tate took to social media to express her disappointment. She said that she was disappointed with how the events of yesterday unfolded in regards to the news that she wouldn’t be fighting Rousey. She added that she was told that she was the next in line for a title shot.

As for Holm, she will be facing Rousey on Jan. 2, 2016, in Las Vegas. Rousey said that Holm is going to be the biggest challenge to date.

Rousey described Holm has the best striker that she has ever fought. She added that striking was something she learnt later on in her career.

Dana White, the president of the UFC, said that officials were sitting around and they said that everyone has already seen Tate fight already. He was referring to the two times Tate has fought Rousey. The first time was in 2012 and the second time was in 2013. Tate lost both fights via an arm-bar submission.

White said that in the case of Miesha, the result was the same thing twice.White added that he will work to put together a fight between Tate and Amanda Nunes, and they will fight on the Rousey-Holm card.

Holm is a former professional boxer and kick-boxer who has won 33 professional boxing fights and lost only two fights. Her kick-boxing record is 2-1, while her MMA record is 9-0.

Rousey’s MMA record stands at 12-0, and all but one fight has ended in the first round.
