As soon as Thursday’s game between AC Milan and Pro Patria in Italy began, a section of fans yelled racist chants at the black players on the Milan squad. In a video clip, Kevin-Prince Boateng decides enough is enough, and kicks the ball up into the section of allegedly racist fans. The ball doesn’t reach the onlookers but bounces back to the field.
He then hurls off his shirt and begins walking away from the pitch. After a few minutes of consultation, both teams join Boateng and the match ends only 26 minutes in.
Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri told reporters: “We are disappointed and saddened by what has happened. Milan play for the right to respect all players. We need to stop these uncivilised gestures.”
The Pro Patria chairman has claimed the game, which was being played in front of a few thousand fans, was infiltrated by people not known to the club. “Never seen them before, here to make statement,” he is quoted as saying, as the Telegraph adds.
Boateng later tweeted: “Shame that these things still happen… #StopRacismforever”
