Six-time Olympic medalist swimmer Ryan Murphy has earned two 2021 Golden Goggle nominations. Digital Journal has the scoop.
The 2021 Golden Goggles GALA, presented by USA Swimming, will be held on December 7 in Miami, Florida.
Murphy is nominated for the coveted “Male Athlete of the Year,” alongside such distinguished swimmers as Caeleb Dressel, Bobby Finke, and Chase Kalisz.
He was also a part of the men’s 4 x 100 meter medley relay race (along with Michael Andrew, Caeleb Dressel, and Zach Apple), which is up for “Relay Performance of the Year.” Team USA shattered the world record in this relay race, with a time of 3:26.78, and they accomplished this feat from Lane 1.
At the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, Murphy won a gold medal in the men’s 4 x 100 meter medley relay as part of Team USA, a silver medal in the men’s 200 meter backstroke race, and a bronze medal in the men’s 100 meter backstroke race.
Murphy serves as an Ambassador for the Goldfish Swim School, and in the International Swimming League (ISL), he competes for the Los Angeles Current with Lenny Krayzelburg as his team’s General Manager.
