Review: Shawn Barber finishes third in IAAF Diamond League in Paris (Includes first-hand account)

Barber was able to clear 5.62 meters successfully on his second attempt, but failed to advance in the higher heights 5.72 and 5.77 meters respectively. After two misses at 5.72 meters, he passed on his third attempt, and subsequently raised the bar to 5.77 meters, where he failed to clear that height. His season best was 5.71 meters in Eugene, Oregon, at the IAAF Diamond League Prefontaine Classic event that was held in Eugene, Oregon.

French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie came in second place with 5.62 meters (which he cleared on his first attempt), and American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks finished first by clearing 5.82 meters on his second try. Following his win, Kendricks did not raise the bar higher.

Digital Journal chatted with 2015 World Champion pole vaulter Shawn Barber last month.
