Review: Sam Kendricks wins first place at IAAF World Challenge in Berlin (Includes first-hand account)

Kendricks won first place by clearing 5.86 meters. Ironically enough, Polish pole vaulter Piotr Lisek and Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie, who earned the silver and bronze medals at the IAAF World Championships in London, came in second and third place, thus repeating the same positions. Lisek successfully jumped over 5.81 meters, while Lavillenie cleared 5.71 meters respectively.

Polish pole vaulter Pawel Wojciechowski finished in fourth place with 5.61 meters, and Greek athlete Konstadinos Filippidis came in fifth place with 5.51 meters.

In addition to being the 2017 World Champion in pole vault, Kendricks was the 2017 IAAF Diamond League champion, where he secured wins at the Diamond League meets in Shanghai, Eugene (Oregon), Paris, Lausanne, and Zurich.
