American swimmer Jake Foster has a major reason to be proud. He won big at the 2023 TYR Pro Swim Series in Mission Viejo, California.
He won first place in the men’s 200 meter breaststroke race in Mission Viejo with a time of 2:11.58. Foster bested Nic Fink who came in second place with a time of 2:11.72.
On his 200 meter breaststroke race performance, Foster remarked, “I feel good. I’ve had that event circled on my event lineup for the whole week. I think there was definitely room to improve but the way I executed it — 5.5 weeks out of (world championships) team trials — I am really happy with it.”
Foster also finished in second place in the men’s 400 meter individual medley (IM) with a time of 4:21.20 right behind David Johnston, who clocked 4:17.27; moreover, in the 100 meter breaststroke race, Foster came in second place with a time of 1:00.81.
Jake Foster is the older brother of world champion and world record holder swimmer Carson Foster. They both swim for the University of Texas at Austin, as proud Texas Longhorns.
Acceptance to medical school
Last month, Foster announced on social media that is he is not done with swimming yet despite being accepted to medical school. “Swimming has been an integral part of my life, and I’m excited to announce that I’m not done yet,” he exclaimed.
“Although I have recently been accepted to Dell Medical School, I was granted a one year deferral of enrollment in order to pursue some of my final swimming goals. Becoming a physician is my ultimate dream, but I’m so thankful to the wonderful staff and administrators of Dell Medical School for granting me this opportunity to further grow as a competitor, teammate, and beyond. I’m excited for what the future holds.”
