In his third attempt, Tsiamis jumped 16.78 meters, which was sufficient for him to win the bronze medal in the men’s triple jump competition. This was a season best for Tsiamis, and quite the victory for Greece, especially on the final day of the European Championships.

Triple jumper Alexis Copello of Azerbaijan came in second place with 16.93 meters, while 2008 Olympic gold medalist Nelson Evora of Portugal won the gold medal with a season best of 17.10 meters.

In the European Athletics Championships, which took place at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany, Greece won a total of six medals. Three of them were gold: Katerina Stefanidi in the women’s pole vault, Miltiadis Tentoglou in the men’s long jump and Paraskevi Papachristou in the women’s triple jump.

Sprinter Maria Belibasaki won the silver in the women’s 400 meters, and Nikoleta Kiriakopoulou took home the silver in the women’s pole vault competition.
