Accompanying him on his return flight from Los Angeles were his wife Jinkee, his children and part of his entourage.
From the airport, they motored to the Dusit Hotel in Makati for breakfast and and press briefing. Later, they headed to the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City in a motorcade.
After the motorcade, Pacquiao met with reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, who arrived earlier from New York for the turnover of her Binibining Pilipinas crown to her successor on Sunday. Pacquiao gave Wurtzbach a pair of gloves with his signature as souvenir.
After knocking down Timothy Bradley twice en route to a unanimous decision victory, Pacquiao has announced his retirement from boxing to focus on family and politics.
But right after his announcement, a resounding chorus ensued asking Pacquiao to reconsider his decision to end his 21-year boxing career.
Aside from Pacquiao’s longtime trainer Freddie Roach, who wants Pacquiao to face Floyd Mayweather for the second time, other boxing experts including his three-time foe Bradley want Pacquiao to continue fighting.
“No, Manny Pacquiao shouldn’t retire,” Bradley said after the fight.
Pacquiao, who is seeking a senate seat in the May 9 general elections is set to resume his campaign which was cut off to give way to his training for the Bradley fight.
The incumbent congressman from the lone district of Sarangani has been ranked consistently at 7-10 in the periodic surveys for senatorial candidates.
