While in the U.S., Pacquiao has met with his longtime promoter Bob Arum to discuss the ongoing fight talks with the camp of Floyd Mayweather and to iron out details of the fight contract that could be signed during his US trip.
When asked if there is anything he wants to say to Mayweather, he had a concise answer: “Sign the contract,” Pacquiao told TMZ.
From the US, Pacquiao will be in London on Jan 22 to honor the invitation Prince Harry and possibly to meet with the Queen of England at the Buckingham Palace.
On Jan. 25, Pacquaio will fly back to the US to act as one of the judges in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant to be held in Florida.
Pacquiao and team have reportedly agreed on all the terms and conditions that Mayweather had asked for and are just awaiting the final confirmation by Mayweather and his camp.
“My promoter and I, we agreed to all that [Mayweather] wants,” said Pacquiao, an eight-division and current WBO welterweight champion. “We’re just waiting for the signed contract to make it happen.”
Last month Mayweather announced in a TV interview on CBS/Showtime that he has decided to fight Pacquiao on May 2. View video interview here.
Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum opposed the date which falls on the week of Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican independence day celebrations where Arum thought would be a fitting date to feature a Mexican fighter like Canelo Alvarez.
Early this week, Arum agreed to have the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout on May2 as proposed by Mayweather.
Both camps have also agreed on the fight venue which is the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There are few more hurdles that need to be made which include the final details of the purse split and the details of the joint broadcast of the fight by HBO and CBS/Showtime.
