Three weeks ago Mayweather announced on a CBS/Showtime live interview that he has decided to fight Pacquiao on May 2. But as of today, he has not signed the fight contact, giving rise to speculations that he won’t be fighting Pacquiao until the day of his retirement.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has opposed the holding of the fight on May 2, the date that Mayweather chose, saying that it will coincide with the holding of “Cinco de Mayo,” a Mexican independence day celebration and special occasion that he said is only fitting for an event that features a Mexican fighter like Canelo Alvarez.
Instead, Arum suggested the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight be held in June to give enough time for training and promotions.
Arum and Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) owner Oscar de la Hoya are making arrangement for a super fight between Canelo Alvarez, who is signed to GBP and Miguel Cotto, who is being represented by Arum’s Top Rank Promotions.
I appears that the May 2 fight is no longer feasible at this time since it is only four months away and the parties have yet to agree on the terms of the fight contract.
