On November 18, 2014, Schultz released his emotional memoir, Foxcatcher: The True Story of My Brother’s Murder, John du Pont’s Madness, and the Quest for Olympic Gold.

The film Foxcatcher was based on Schultz and his life. It stars actors Channing Tatum (as Mark Schultz), Steve Carell as John du Pont, and Mark Ruffalo as his brother, Dave Schultz, was released on November 14, 2014, in the United States. Foxcatcher is nominated for five Academy Awards, including “Best Actor in Leading Role” for Carell, and “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” for Ruffalo.
