NFL News and Rumors: Robert Griffin likely finished in Washington

With the news hitting the media, rumors immediately hit social media regarding Robert Griffin and where he could end up being traded. The former number one overall draft pick has suffered a couple concussions in his brief career, but it appears the team was more concerned with his decision-making on the football field.

What makes the decision even more surprising is Cousins hasn’t exactly been careful with the football, throwing 21 interceptions in just 15 games. The 27-year-old threw two more this weekend against Miami, but it now seems clear that the franchise is looking to go in a different direction and that could lead to a trade in the coming weeks.

The Latin Post has reported that the NY Jets could have interest in the former Baylor star. The 25-year-old was terrific as a rookie, passing for 3,200 yards and 20 touchdowns, but more impressive was his five interceptions, a remarkable number for a first year player in the NFL.

Since that time things have digressed as Griffin has 20 touchdowns and 18 interceptions over the past two seasons, but his completion percentage is still at 64 percent and with his young age, a change of scenery is all that could be needed.

New York has struggled at the position for years and with youngster Geno Smith being hit by a team member and lost for the first month of the season, Griffin could be a great option, especially if it cost just a middle or late round draft pick.

Another option for the young signal caller is Cleveland, especially with the play of both quarterbacks last year and into the first week of this season. The Browns haven’t made the playoffs since their return to the league and they could do worse than trading for a player with plenty of upside.
