NFL Trade Rumors: Joe Thomas to Seattle Seahawks?

The Seahawks have changed their style of play over the last two years, moving more towards the vertical passing game. That has put pressure on the line to protect All Pro quarterback Russell Wilson and with their leader already hobbled with an ankle injury, it could be just a matter of time before he is lost for the year with a viscous hit.

Management has paid several defensive stars over the last three years and that money had to create depth issues at other positions. This team has little invested on the offensive line and its beginning to show. This past week the team managed just two field goals against Arizona, resulting in a 6-6 tie and while Seattle still holds the top spot in the NFC West, if this offense can’t get rolling, it could result in losses over the second half of the regular season and a loss of momentum heading into the playoffs.

Robert Ortiz of Yard Barker has reported several sources have indicated the front office could look to add some help and Joe Thomas of Cleveland is the target. Despite the Browns recently denying a possible trade of their All Pro left tackle, it makes sense for a team that is going nowhere this year and has no long-term plans with the 31-year-old.

There’s no doubt Cleveland is once again in rebuilding mode and landing a high round draft pick or two for Thomas makes good business sense. Not only do they lose the money off the salary cap, they get a couple youngsters to help with the rebuild.

There are a couple other NFL teams that would have interest, but Seattle has made moves in the past to strengthen weaknesses and and have a front office that is proactive when it comes to winning, making this a deal that makes sense for both teams and one of those rumors that could actually happen before next weeks deadline.
