NFL Rumors: Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas gaining momentum

Several reports have surfaced over the last couple of weeks concerning the “silver and black” moving to Las Vegas and before football dismiss the notion, they have a couple heavyweight owners in their corner.

Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys was the first big name to offer his support. America’s team owner has told reporters that the move is not only good for the franchise, but it would also generate a new fans base with the move to Nevada, but keep the team on the West Coast, allowing them to stay in the AFC West and play against their biggest rivals each year.

Carolyn Goodman, mayor of Vegas has stated on ESPN that Oakland, “will come if Nevada handles this properly.” She later added this assurance: “I know (Vegas) will have a team.”

Mark Davis, owner of the Raiders, has reportedly told Goodman that he will front $500 million towards a new stadium in “Sin City” and with the help of local businesses, another $150 million is available, leaving just over half to be covered from taxes to those who live in the state.

Another NFL owner, Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots has also come on board with the potential move. USA Today reported Kraft would welcome the transition, especially with Oakland making a limited attempt to keep the franchise.

The Raiders are among the most popular teams in the league with their old-fashioned bad-boy image, but a sub-standard stadium and lack of local money is making it difficult for the franchise. A move would likely land Las Vegas a Super Bowl in the near future, creating another terrific economy base for the city and team, making this a win-win situation for the city, team, and the league.
