NFL Rumors: Oakland Raiders odd team out in move to Los Angeles?

The San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, and St Louis Rams all put in the necessary relocation forms with the league. Along with the filing comes the cost of $550 million, but each team will need 24 votes in the leagues owners meeting and rumor has it only two teams will have any chance of approval.

St Louis has the inside track — not only did the team play in Southern California before a move in 1994 to Missouri, but fans of the team have signed a petition to get the Rams back to LA.

The team owner, Stan Kroenke, has a group ready to build a privately funded $2 billion stadium in Inglewood, a site that was once a horse racing track. The proposed roofed stadium would open in 2018 and allow the NFL to finally return the Super Bowl to the area.

San Diego is the other team with the best chance to move, but they would play in Carson, just outside of Los Angeles, in a stadium that would be constructed without the use of tax dollars, costing the Spanos family and its investors $1.75 billion.

Rumors have the Raiders as the odd team out, despite a plan with San Diego to make Carson home for both teams. The franchise also moved out of Southern California in 1994, despite still having good support from the locals.

There are no reports of when the league and commissioner Roger Goodell will make a final decision, but it appear whatever teams make the move will likely use the LA Coliseum or Anaheim Stadium, home of the LA Angels, as home base until construction is complete on one or both new proposed stadiums.
