Coach Brad Childress told the Vikings players Moss “is no longer with us”. Moss’s agent confirmed the news Monday night.
The six-time Pro Bowl receiver suffered through a disappointing game yesterday, coming up with only one catch against his former team, the New England Patriots.
TSN explained the financial impact of waiving Moss: “Moss’s contract called for a $6.4 million base salary this season — leaving the Vikings on the hook for at least $1.5 million. If Moss is claimed on waivers, the team that signs him is responsible for the remainder of his salary. If he clears waivers, then he can sign as a free agent under new terms.”
Already, the Dolphins and the Seahawks are reportedly interested in signing Moss, ESPN reports.
Last week, Moss was in the news because he failed to make himself available to reporters, incurring a $25,000 fine from the NFL.
In four games with the Vikings, Moss has snagged 13 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
