NBA Trade Rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge to Toronto Raptors?

Jared Sullinger is a big body, but not the free agent splash the team or its fans had hoped for over the off season. The front office did take two solid prospects to add depth, but neither of the first round picks are likely to help much this season. If the latest reports are correct, one of the better power forwards in the league could be available.

CSN New England has reported San Antonio could look to move LaMarcus Aldridge before the trade deadline. His signing was supposed to keep this franchise as championship contenders, but team chemistry was a problem last season and if that continues, Jackie MacMullan believes the Spurs will look to move the big man.

Steven LeBron of Fan Sided has suggested Toronto could be a possible destination, especially with the window for this franchise to win its first NBA title is slowing closing. LeBron has suggested a deal that could include Norman Powell and Jonas Valanciunas in exchange for the 31-year-old.

The veteran averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds, an upgrade over the talent currently on the roster and his experience in the playoffs could be handy at seasons end. Aldridge would add some scoring punch to the Raptors lineup, taking pressure off the Raptors back court and giving the team three legitimate All Star caliber players, something it now seems is needed to contend for a championship.

Much of this speculation is based on San Antonio starting the 2016-17 season slowly. With Pau Gasol at center, it figures the Spurs defense will take a hit this season and that could be just what helps Toronto get the player they need to surpass Cleveland as the best team in the Eastern Conference.
