NBA Trade Rumors: Jahlil Okafor to Boston Celtics?

Management for the team was already looking to move one of their young big men and now that appears next on the list as Philly just has too much depth and not enough minutes for all the forwards and centers they now have on their roster.

Trade rumors this summer have been nothing new and they are again hitting social media hard, but now it looks like a deal must be made or they risk having a youngster sit on the bench and get nothing but headaches in return.

The latest speculation from Metro has Jahlil Okafor now the focus of trade talks and apparently Boston is the likely target. General manager Danny Aigne already added veteran center Al Horford this off season, but adding the 20-year-old could set his franchise up for the next decade.

Okafor averaged over 17 points and 7 rebounds last year for Philadelphia, great numbers for a rookie, but it was becoming apparent that this squad needs help in the back court to become a winning team. Last years third overall pick is great trade bait, even if the price tag is high as he has the capabilities to become a regular in the NBA All-Star game and a great building block for future success.

No package of players was presented in this possible trade, but the 76ers need for help at point guard is a priority. Boston could send Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and possibly a couple future draft picks to acquire the 6′-11″ center and if it happens, the Celtics could pass Cleveland as the most talented basketball team in the Eastern Conference and become an instant contender for a championship.
