With Kobe Bryant entering the last year or two of his career, management is looking to find the right players that could possibly help this franchise reach the playoffs, especially after the past two disastrous seasons.
Rumors have surfaced once again about a possible trade for Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins and with several young players now on the roster, a deal to send some youth to the Kings, along with a draft pick or two, could be just what it takes to get a deal done before the regular season begins in a few weeks time.
Kings head coach George Karl isn’t a fan of the big man and has expressed it publicly, but trading a star player to a division rival isn’t an ideal situation, no matter how much you want a change.
Cousins has been spectacular over the past two years, averaging 23 points and 12 rebounds per game, but his off court actions and immaturity have caused some concerns and with no veteran leaders on the Kings roster to mentor the 25-year-old, it has led to several trade rumors over the last two years.
The LA Lakers have also been linked in a deal for disgruntled Phoenix Suns power forward Markief Morris, but with Julius Randle expected to return this season, its hard to believe they would make a trade and have a big money contract sitting on the bench.
With all the recent trade talk, it was reported that Bryant is nearly 100 percent and should be ready to go at the start of training camp. The star shooting guard hasn’t played much over the last two years with injuries, but a return to health and the added youth on the roster, could make this a squad to watch in the 2015 NBA season, especially if they can pull the trigger and land Cousins.
