NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant to Boston Celtics?

With general manager Danny Ainge unable to pull the trigger on a deal for the third overall pick, the team added forward Jaylen Brown from Cal. The youngster will add some depth and athleticism to the front court and could play his way into a starting role with a strong showing over the summer, but it didn’t address the biggest need of experience.

Ainge used the teams other two picks in round one to add some international talent. Guerschon Yabusele of France and Ante Zizic of Croatia both have good size, but both of these players won’t likely play in the league for at least another year with their current deals overseas. They could, however, be used to make a future trade.

The front office did a solid job with several risk-reward selections in round two, but despite the numerous additions, NBA experts still believe some roster changes could take place before the start of training camp.

Rumors have begun on possible free agent targets and this summers number one option is in play. Kevin Durant didn’t look like he would leave Oklahoma City a few weeks back, but now reports have the All Star forward looking at other options.

Boston might not be the ideal landing spot for the former first round pick, but Celtics point guard Isiah Thomas believes he could still make his way to “Bean Town” before all is said and done and went to Twitter to show his enthusiasm about possibly playing alongside the veteran.

There’s no doubt the team has the resources to add any player available on the free agent market with plenty of room under the salary cap and the option to make a sign and trade deal and with 48 wins during the regular season this past year, a big name signing could put this franchise within reach of Cleveland and Toronto as the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
