NBA News and Rumors: Ryan Anderson to Toronto Raptors?

While management was in Los Angeles to get their stars name on a new contract, the LA Times reported head coach Dwayne Casey was spotted in talks with restricted free agent Meyers Leonard of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The seven-footer isn’t the biggest name on the market this summer, but his ability to stretch the floor, along with his size, make the 24-year-old a definite consideration for a franchise that needs some depth in the front court.

While the meeting made news, the biggest rumors came when it was reported the front office had a meeting scheduled with Ryan Anderson,

The former first round pick has made a name for himself over the last five years. After two years of inconsistent basketball, the 28-year-old has become one of the best shooting big men in the league and that could help take pressure off the Raptors back court and give this team a strong third option on the offensive end of the court.

This past season with New Orleans, Anderson averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds, but his biggest asset is the ability to shoot the three. Over his seven years in the NBA, the 6’10” power forward has a career 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and 86 percent from the free throw line.

With Toronto expected to add a veteran presence in the front court this summer, its no surprise the front office is meeting with players, but adding a player like Anderson could keep this franchise as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and help build on the momentum this squad has developed with their play over the last three years.
