The front office made the biggest move of the summer when the landed All Star forward Kevin Durant. His ability to spread the floor, but also provide some muscle, has fans of the team excited about the upcoming basketball season, but if the latest rumors are true, more help could be on the way.
If this squad has a weakness, it’s at center as the squad rotated three veterans to patrol the paint last season, but that could change as several sources have linked Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe as a possible trade target.
The 26-year-old averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds last season in Milwaukee, which is much better production then Golden State received form the likes of Andrew Bogut, Anderson Varejao, and Festus Ezeli. With two of these veterans moving on over the off season, management did sign Zaza Pachulia, but Monroe is a more complete player at both ends of the court and a definite long-term solution at center for the Warriors.
Salary would be a big concern as the team would need to rid some room under the cap to acquire the big man, but luckily they have players they could move to make this deal come to fruition. Rumors of Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala being part of the package would create some interest from Milwaukee. Not only would it add some much-needed depth, it would also bring players with playoff experience, something this franchise has lacked in recent years.
Many already believe this could become the best team ever in the NBA with Durant, but adding Monroe would solidify their chances to win another title and help this franchise down the road when a few of the players are sure to leave looking for a bigger payday.
