NBA all-star Kevin Durant raps in new song with Stephen Jackson

Durant is known for last-minute heroics, not smooth rapping, but the Oklahoma City Thunder all-star gives it a shot in a new track released by fellow NBA player Jackson. Now in his 12th year, Jackson is releasing his mixtape Jack of All Trades sometime before 2013.

The track is available on iTunes, and a YouTube video streams the song.

The chorus repeats “it’s lonely at the top, we’re never gonna stop, cuz we’re taking over, act like you know us, haters gonna hate, but we gonna celebrate…”

Durant raps: “Been balling so long it’s second nature…I ball like swish sharper than a switch blade, fresh off the ground, cut the chase gotta get paid…Motherhater, I’m all about the love and karma, go hard for the green, cuz it’s lonely at the top.”

When it comes to being on top, Durant knows that leader position well. He’s been on the NBA scoring champion for the last three years, and he won Olympic gold with the USA Men’s Basketball team last year in London. As for “haters gonna hate,” he hasn’t faced the kind of criticism other offensive powerhouses such as LeBron James endures regularly.

Durant has found an extracurricular hobby in rapping. In this video from February, he raps on a song with an artist named Privaledge. The Thunder franchise player is so deep into hip-hop he already started a beef with another rapper, California’s Lil B.
