Michelle Carter nominated for ‘Female Athlete of the Year’

As Digital Journal reported, Carter won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in shot put, where she bested two-time Olympic gold medalist Valerie Adams from New Zealand. Carter was able to throw 20.63 meters in her final attempt, thus making Olympic history, and setting an American record in the sport.

In addition, Carter was the gold medalist at the 2016 World Indoor Championships, where she won the event on her final throw with 20.21 meters in the indoor track and field, which was a world leading performance.

Aside from her career in athletics, Carter is a certified professional make-up artist.
