Two-time Olympic bronze medalist and American jumper Jasmine Moore chatted about her latest endeavors in track and field.
Moore participated at the press conference prior to the 2025 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships, which was held on Friday, February 21st.
Moore was joined by the following Team USA athletes, who were a part of the media panel: Josh Hoey, Grant Holloway, Alexis Holmes, Katie Moon, and Vernon Norwood.
Moore was the first-ever American woman to qualify for both the long jump and triple jump for the Olympics.
At the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Moore brought home bronze medals in both events.
When asked how she used last year’s success to fuel on this year, she remarked, “I’ve used last year to really give me the confidence. I think I was really anxious last year; it was my first year going pro and not knowing what to expect.”
“Now, I really have a lot of confidence, and I am really staying focused. I am using each meet as an opportunity to compete and focus on each round,” she noted.
“What I learned from last year, is that I would put one out there and then, not be able to respond. That is definitely one of the things that I am working on this year,” she added.
“Coming off Paris with two medals, and being the first woman to do so, that really gives me a lot of confidence,” she said. “I just hope to see this event grow for the United States.”
Advice for young and emerging athletes that wish to pursue the long jump and the triple jump
For young and emerging athletes that want to do long jump or triple jump, Moore said, “No. 1 is speed. Continue your running workouts. In high school, people go over to the pit to get out of the running, but the runway is the most important part. So, stick with that.”
“Then, just keep pushing yourself… they both go hand in hand,” she acknowledged. “I can’t imagine being as successful as I am in one without the other. Just push yourself and stick with it.”
“I really hope to see more athlete continue both of the jumps throughout college, and hopefully, professionally,” she added.
