American track and field athlete Joe Kovacs won the men’s shot put competition at the Wanda Diamond League event in Zurich.
Kovacs was able to throw 23.23 meters, which is the third-fastest put of all time (placing him right behind two of fellow American Ryan Crouser’s throws of 23.37 meters and 23.30 meters). This event was held on September 7th in a public square in downtown Zurich.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and reigning world champion Ryan Crouser finished in second place with a put of 22.74 meters. New Zealand shot putter Tom Walsh came in third place with a throw of 21.90 meters.
Throughout his respected career in track and field, Kovacs is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, and a two-time World Champion in 2015 and 2019 respectively.
