The fight will be held at the 20,000-capacity Manchester Arena in Manchester on July 9 and will be televised live on BoxNation.
“I’m thrilled to get this fight on July 9th and more importantly the fight is going live on BoxNation. I’ve had some great relations with the team at BoxNation and I’m over the moon to be working with BoxNation once again in this super fight,” said Fury, a resident of Mancester, as reported by boxingscene.com.
Klitschko is also happy to go against Fury for the second time, vowing to get his titles back.
“I’m honored that my rematch with Tyson Fury will be shown live by the UK’s premier boxing network, BoxNation on Saturday 9th July. BoxNation has shown a great commitment and has a tremendous reputation for showing the great fight around the world and this rematch is a perfect fit,” he said.
The fight was first confirmed by Fury’s uncle and trainer Peter Fury, who announced Friday that the rematch will take place in Manchester in July.
“9th July @Tyson_Fury vs Klitschko” is coming to Manchester uk. Official announcement coming 12 noon,” Peter Fury tweeted.
Fury earlier hoped the fight to take place at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground, which has a capacity of over 70,000. But since the fight is confirmed to be held at the Manchester Arena, he is still satisfied with the fact that he will have a hometown advantage against Klitschko in their much-anticipated rematch.
The British boxer pulled off an upset when he outpointed Klitschko in Dusseldorf, Germany in November to win the IBF, WBO and WBA titles, ending the Ukrainian’s long reign in the heavyweight division.
Two weeks later, the unbeaten Fury was stripped of his IBF crown for signing a contract for a rematch with Klitschko. The IBF contract for the November match stipulated that the winner must face the mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glaskov.
Klitschko is eyeing to avenge his first loss in 11 years.
“Boxing fans worldwide will watch this international mega event and I’m looking forward to coming out victorious against Tyson Fury and regaining my heavyweight titles,” Klitschko said in the boxingscene.com report.
But Fury is confident of beating Klitschko again: “I’m the best heavyweight in the world and the rest are impostors to my titles. I’m coming for all of them once I’ve dealt with Klitschko a second time.”
