Former wrestler ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage dies in car accident

Florida Highway Patrol told celebrity gossip site TMZ Savage was struck by a heart attack while driving in Tampa this morning. He then veered across oncoming traffic, barrelled through oncoming traffic and hit a tree.

Savage , 59, and his passenger and wife Lynn were rushed to hospital but Savage succumbed to his injuries. Lynn was treated with “minor injuries.” Both were wearing seatbelts at the time and alcohol is being ruled out as a factor. An investigation is underway.

The popular wrestler from the renamed WWF was best known for his trademark “Oooh yeah!” catchphrase and flying elbow finishing move. Born in Ohio, Savage entered the wrestling scene in 1985 and drew attention with his flamboyant outfits and his flirtations with his manager Elizabeth Hulette, Ms. Elizabeth to fans. He married her but they divorced in 1992. Savage remarried last year.

Savage never fully left the public eye. He appeared in ads for Slim Jim and played a wrestler in the 2002 film Spider-Man.
