The top high school football players from all across the nation will begin the next step in their careers and for a select few, their next stop before playing in the NFL.
Alabama might have lost a heart breaking contest to Ohio State, but once again Nick Saban has the top rated recruiting class and the Crimson Tide are just one of five SEC schools in the latest top-10 rankings from Bleacher Report.
Saban has done a great job getting elite talent to Tuscaloosa, including adding five, 5-star recruits, the most of any program. Quarterback Blake Barnett is the biggest name and with some seasoning, he could be the next great signal caller for the Tide.
Bama also has commitments from wide receiver Calvin Ridley and is looking to bolster its defensive back field with the additions of Minkah Fitzpatrick, Kendall Sheffield and Deionte Thompson.
Florida State missed a shot at winning back-to-back National Championships, but with another strong class headed to Tallahassee. The Seminoles are ranked second in the nation with four, 5-star recruits and a number of skilled position weapons. Wide receivers George Campbell and Da’Vante Phillips are both big targets and with the recent news that quarterback Jameis Winston could return to school, this program could be headed for another appearance in the college football playoffs next season.
The surprise program in the top-10 is the SEC’s Tennessee Volunteers. With 27 total commitments, including two elite 5-star recruits, head coach Butch Jones and his staff have done a terrific job in rebuilding the Vols.
Wide receiver Preston Williams and running back Alvin Kamara are the two biggest names on the offensive side of the ball, but the school has also received commitments from several star defensive players, including Kyle Phillips, giving Tennessee its best class since the days of Phillip Fulmer.
