On May 13, Linnea Mack and Hali Flickinger won big at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis. They chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos following their races.

Mack won the women’s 100 meter freestyle final with a time of 54 seconds, with Kate Douglass in second place with 54.39 seconds, and Catie DeLoof in third place with a time of 54.36 seconds.

“I was really happy obviously and I am just really excited for the upcoming weeks,” she exclaimed. “All the hard work is done and now we are moving into the fun part of fine-tuning everything before the Trials. It is a really good marker for where we are and where we need to go in the next couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to it.”

That was just the race that we’ve been patterning for the last couple of months—or even the last year—so that’s just what it was today. Our plan was to just go out and execute the little things,” she added.

Flickinger won the women’s 200 meter butterfly race with a time of 2:06.70 besting Regan Smith who clocked 2:07.59. “It was good, it was fun,” Flickinger said. “I am always happy to be able to race. It’s great to be back and it’s good to be in Indy, and it’s always fun to race the 200 meter butterfly.”

Hali Flickinger is the athlete that qualified for the most events at the upcoming U.S. Olympic Trials. She is leading the way with nine qualifying events. “That gives me a little less pressure because I get to choose what I want to swim,” she said. “I actually don’t know exactly the events I’m swimming yet so that’s really cool. I am just going to train until Trials and then whatever training shows, that’s what I will wind up swimming at Trials.”
