Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions has joined Mayweather in announcing during a conference call over the weekend that the world’s richest athlete has indeed received three “major” movie offers last week.
Ellerbe did not disclose the details of the offer but he confirmed that “there are ‘significant’ possibilities for Mayweather out there.”
When asked about the possibility of acting in the movies, Mayweather said he prefers to be working behind the scenes.
“I’ve been approached on numerous occasions [to act] but I’d rather be behind the scenes,” he said. “I’ve had my time to shine.” he said.
Mayweather has been talking to media lately to promote his fight against Berto. But in his conference call, he declined to speculate on the number of pay-per-view (PPV) sales the fight will generate.
“All I can do is just hope we do good numbers,” Mayweather said. That’s the only thing I can do. I can’t say no particular number, but we’ll just have to see,” he added.
It appears that Mayweather doesn’t really care how much revenue the fight will generate as he is guaranteed at least $30 million for the last of his $200 million six-fight contract with CBS/Showtime.
“Nobody’s forced to watch. Watch if you want to watch. If you don’t want to watch, don’t watch,” Mayweather said. Write if you want to write about it. If you don’t want to write about it, don’t. At the end of the day, if you write good or bad, just continue to write. It’s keeping me relevant,” he added.
Mayweathwer is coming off a unanimous decision win against Manny Pacquiao in their “Fight of the Century” that took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last May 2. The fight generated over 4.4 million PPV buys and broke all sales records in boxing history.
