2017 NHL Mock Draft: Canucks best goal scoring options?

Vancouver is one franchise needs help on the front line. Despite a strong start to the season, the Canucks are averaging just two goals per game and that kind of production will make it difficult to continuously win hockey games.

The team is also among the oldest in the league and needs an infusion of youth if they want to rebound from last years poor showing and that could be possible with the strong group of youngsters in next summers class of talent.

Draft Site has released their latest mock and has the front office selecting winger Kristian Vesalainen. Not only does this youngster have tremendous ability on the offensive end of the ice, his 6’3″ 200 pound frame is just the type of physical presence the Canucks need on their roster.

Another option is center Gabriel Vilardi, who ranks second in the latest player rankings at his position, just behind Nolan Patrick, the player most NHL experts agree will become the number one overall pick in 2017.

This team was linked in several rumors this summer, but failed to land much help through free agency, slowing down their transition to a younger club and putting more pressure on the organization to get draft picks right. Vancouver had their shot at winning multiple Stanley Cups, but for different reasons, failed to deliver.

The time is now to move on from those aging players and begin the process of adding more size and scoring to the team and it will begin next June and hopefully for the fans, the process of becoming a contender will be quick and this team can finally breakthrough and capture that first cup.
