2017 NFL Mock Draft: Brad Kaaya best QB option for San Francisco?

This franchise has too much salary cap space used on two signal callers that have no idea on how to lead a team. One plays his back-side off, but makes simple plays look difficult and the other has leadership issues that will likely see him playing elsewhere next year, if another team is desperate for help.

The only answer is to look outside the organization, first through the draft and possible a free agent signing during the off season. The 49ers can’t go into next season without a veteran to help teach and show whoever they take in April and show him the ropes.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report has covered the NFL for years and prides himself in knowing what teams need and projecting which college players best fit their needs. In his latest mock, Miller has San Francisco taking University of Miami youngster Brad Kaaya in the opening round and makes a good argument of how and why he fits Chip Kelly’s offense.

David Fucillo of SB Nation is also suggesting a change behind center, believing its the best way for this team to get rid of the past and start moving forward. Gabbert is skating on thin ice and another loss this week to Arizona could see the former first round pick get benched, but the answer isn’t backup Colin Kaepernick as shown from his play over the last two years and Fucillo notes that a change is needed.

The biggest concern for fans is this team wins a few more games this season and losses out on the top college quarterbacks available. If that happens, look for the front office to add some weapons at wide receiver and possibly tight end in the front half of the draft, giving whoever the team brings in a chance of some success in 2017.
