2016 NFL Mock Draft: Updated first round projections

There’s no doubt that some changes at quarterback will take place and the biggest move is likely in San Francisco, where Colin Kaepernick has likely played his last game for the 49ers. With that being said, Blaine Gabbert won’t be the long-term answer and that has experts speculating on what the team will do next.

With a top-3 pick in next years draft looking likely, selecting a quarterback to lead this franchise into the future wouldn’t be a bad idea, in fact, Walter Football has suggested Jared Goff of Cal will likely be their next signal caller. The Bears signal caller has cooled off after a hot start to the year, but his size, arm strength, and leadership skills have the young man second at his position in the latest player rankings.

Paxton Lynch is the top-ranked quarterback and if he decides to take his game to the next level, the Memphis Tiger is a solid number one overall prospect. The youngster has shown in the past his ability to run the football and accuracy has never been a problem, but he has taken his game to a new level by staying in the pocket and making his progressions in the passing game.

Several teams will have interest, but none more than Cleveland as the Browns have a problem on and off the field at the position. Lynch is big, nearly 6’7″ and 230 pounds and with his mobility, could be an improved version of Robert Griffin.

Wide receivers have become important in the league as the game has opened up over the last decade and the passing game has taken over. St Louis is one franchise that needs a big wide out that can separate at the line of scrimmage.

With a mid first round pick available, look for the Rams to take a hard look at Ole’ Miss product Laquon Treadwell, who many believe is the top offensive prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft. With good size, speed, and above average route running, he could be just the weapon they need to take that next step and contend for an NFC West crown in the near future.
