2016 NFL Mock Draft: Updated first round projections

Tennessee holds the first overall pick and for the last few weeks it appeared that Ole’ Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil was the player they would select, but rumors have started and it now appears he has a challenge from Florida State corner Jalen Ramsey.

Both of these players are stars in the making, but for entirely different reasons. Tunsil could anchor the Titans line for the next decade and with an upcoming star in quarterback Marcus Mariota, the future would be bright in Nashville.

Ramsey has versatility with the ability to play anywhere in the secondary, saving a roster spot for other areas of need and with Tennessee having several positions they need to upgrade, it makes sense, even if it’s not a glamour pick.

It won’t matter what the Titans do with the first pick, the Cleveland Browns need a quarterback and despite the recent addition of Robert Griffin, it’s unlikely the front office will go any other direction with the second overall selection.

Carson Wentz of North Dakota State is the top signal caller in the latest player rankings, but this team has a long history of making strange picks and that could bring Paxton Lynch of Memphis or Connor Cook of Michigan State into the mix before a final decision is made.

Philadelphia has already made several upgrade over the off season, but the Eagles haven’t addressed the running back position. Ryan Mathews isn’t the answer with his history of missing games and that has Walter Football suggesting Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State is the target in the eighth spot.

With the passing game taking over the NFL, wide receivers are prime targets. New Orleans needs to find help for quarterback Drew Brees and if the latest mocks are correct, they could have their man with Ole’ Miss wide out Laquon Treadwell.

The youngster has top-5 talent, but off-field issues will see him drop and that could help the Saints who don’t pick until the 12th spot in the opening round.

The draft is like a lottery with nothing a certainty, but with the right picks, teams can make a big move up the standings in just a years time. The Eagles could be the team to watch next season with plenty of talent on the roster already and with a strong showing next month, they could go to the top of the NFC East next season.
