With all the hype comes projections and its not all about this season. The latest mock drafts are starting to hit social media and a close look at the best players show plenty of competition at the quarterback position.
Every team is searching for that next great arm that can lead a franchise into the playoffs and hopefully a Super Bowl title. 2016 has plenty of great young signal callers and according to CBS Sports, upwards of four quarterbacks could hear their name called within the top-10 picks in next year’s draft, but it will all depend on health and growth as a leader in the upcoming college football season.
Walterfootball has released its latest mock draft and the experts at the site have Ohio State breakout star Cardale Jones being the top overall selection. With the Cleveland Browns expected to struggle over the coming months, Jones could be the young signal caller this franchise needs to finally starting winning football games on a regular basis.
This is a big year for the Washington Redskins and especially quarterback Robert Griffin. If he and the team struggle in 2015, look for changes to take place and it will start with a new signal caller under center. If the Redskins decide to go in a new direction, Christian Hackenberg of Penn State has all the tools needed to succeed at the next level, but scouts will be taking a close look at the youngster after a disappointing year for the Nittany Lions in 2014.
Connor Cook of Michigan State has the most experience of the college quarterbacks expected to be available next April. The senior decided to return for another season in Lansing and the school and its fans have high hopes for the coming year.
Cook is a top-five talent and teams like the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, and the NY Jets could possibly all look to go in a new direction depending on how the upcoming football season goes.
