2016 NFL Mock Draft: Post Combine first round projections

For all the good comes the bad and for those who didn’t impress this past week, dropping down the latest player rankings could cost these young men millions and if the latest mocks are true, quarterbacks could be the position most hurt in April.

Cleveland is the team most in question with the second overall pick. The Browns need help under center, but there’s no signal caller on the board this year worth the gamble this early in the first round. While several sites believe Carson Wentz or Jared Goff will get the nod here, Sports Illustrated has suggested the new front office will look for players that can help win football games now and that has Florida State corner/safety Jalen Ramsey as the best choice.

The next team in line to take a new offensive leader is San Francisco and despite reports that new head coach Chip Kelly and quarterback Colin Kaepernick are on the same page, many insiders believe that the former first round pick will leave for new surroundings, making it impossible for the 49ers to use the seventh overall selection on anything but a QB.

Jared Goff from Cal is the best option as not only did he play his football at Cal, but he also played in an offense that isn’t prototypical in the NFL. Kelly loves athletic players under center and Goff has decent mobility and a terrific arm, making the best fit of the young quarterbacks in this years class of players.

All indications have the LA Rams looking for a new quarterback to go along with their new home. Reports have surfaced on a potential signing of Peyton Manning, but another option is Paxton Lynch from Memphis, who was considered the top prospect until a poor performance in the teams Bowl Game. He did gain some traction at the combine and with his size, mobility, and arm strength, however, and could become the face of the franchise in its new home of Southern California.
