2016 NBA Draft: LA Lakers set to add a center for the future?

The 76ers are struggling with just one victory on the year, but Philly does have some great young talent, they just need the right chemistry and some added depth, especially in the back court. The biggest problem, the latest player rankings have nothing but front court players at the top.

Philadelphia might use this opportunity to make a trade and acquire a veteran guard to help lead this young squad, but with Ben Simmons likely the number one overall selection, the front office would be wise to take the youngster from LSU and find a spot in the starting lineup for the versatile forward.

The LA Lakers are in a similar boat as the team has some good young talent, but with Kobe Bryant set to retire at seasons end, they must add a veteran free agent to solidify the team and help this squad grow.

General manager Mitch Kupchak and his staff will have plenty of room under the salary cap to make some necessary changes and with a likely top-3 pick in June, they have an opportunity to add a center they didn’t take in 2015.

Kentucky freshman Skal Labissiere is projected by ESPN to land with the ‘purple and gold’, but with his slim frame, his best position at the NBA level could be small forward. The good news is Utah’s Jakob Poeltl, who stand 7’1″ with a 240 pound frame. The 20-year-old will only get stronger and has the skill set to become a solid center at the next level and the type of player that could help the LA Lakers finally breakout of their losing ways and become the playoff contender the fans of Southern California have become accustomed too.
