2016 NBA Mock Draft: LA Clippers targeting front court depth?

This summer look for the front office to address the need for more depth, especially in the front court as the team struggled at the small and power forward positions without the starters on the floor.

With a late first and early second round pick in next months draft, most of the mocks released in the last week have the franchise looking at players that can help with this issue. Draft Express has suggested former Kansas Jayhawks forward Cheick Diallo is the best option.

The youngster didn’t play much as a freshmen and most of his ability is being measured on his athletic ability, making it a gamble for a team that is looking for help and this close to being a real contender in the Western Conference next season.

Another option and one that makes more sense, Baylor’s Taurean Prince, who not only has good size, but also much more experience having played four years of college basketball. At 6’8″ and 220 pounds, this young man has the bulk to play on the inside if needed, but the athleticism to play outside and run the wing, a perfect fit for a squad that likes to push the ball up the court.

Round two should see another big bodied youngster added to the roster. Ben Bentil of Providence was excellent in helping the Friars make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, but NBA experts are concerned with his size. At 6’8″ he doesn’t have great height for a player that is one-dimensional and plays most of his game in the paint, but his work ethic and determination could make him a gamble worth taking.
